Surrey Championships and H & I Grading

RSC members enjoyed a great day at last Sunday's Surrey Championships & County Grading.

Cheynne got the event off to a perfect start, leading the U13 from start to finish, performing her new voluntary routine with great confidence to become the 2010 girls Champion. Dani, Carlie & Kia all put in strong performances using new higher difficulty routines for the first time, and helping the A team into 3rd place.  There were also some great performances from the club's first time competitors Bethany, Chloe, Philli & Melissa.

7 year old Josh made a great attempt at beating the much older and vastly more experienced Tim from Gatwick Flyers in the U13 boys, but it was not to be and Josh ended up 2nd.

Megan & Jenny competing in their first RSC events and Sophie took part in the U/15 girls competition, but despite some great performances could not overcome the strong Tolworth and Gatwick teams and finished in a creditable 3rd place.

There was a great competition in the 17+ Ladies event, with Kia eventually running out the winner from Grace (Tolworth) in 2nd and Carolyne 3rd.  Kia routine included 5 different double somersaults and was the highest difficulty rating in the comp at 10.0.  Juliette & Katie made up the A team which won the team competition with a comfortable margin.  Jo, Lauren, Jess & Lydia all competed well for the B team which came 2nd.

In the County grading the children attempt to achieve promotion to grade H, or if they score high enough up to the Regional grade G. The team has worked really hard and was rewarded with some great results. Bethany (2nd) & Chloe (3rd) both achieved the Regional score, and together with George & Melissa won the U13 team event. In the U15 event, Megan (1st) & Jenny (3rd) both achieved the Regional qualifying score.

All in all a great set of results, we are extremely proud of every club member who took part, especially our new joiners who all did fantastically well and who were well rewarded for their hard work in recent weeks preparing for these events.
